I'm An Aunt!

I'm An Aunt!

Meet my darlin' niece, Marian Edith Goodwin <3

Marian was born at home at 10:38 on (2/17/14). She weighed 7  1/2 lbs, 19 inches long. Labor only lasted 7 hours. We are so thankful that the baby arrived safely, and that Atlanta's fine.

I actually haven't got to see Marian yet, everyone but Cim and I have. Mom, Laredo, and the two little ones went up to Tennessee several weeks ago, leaving Cim, Dad and I at home. The guys run the business, and I hold the fort down while everyone is away. If I've missed a couple of posts lately, it's because I've been getting over a mild cold, feeling a little low-energy, and been running the ranch single handed-ly. So please forgive me if I haven't been posting very regularly.
Anyway, back on subject, I haven't gotten to see the baby yet, only pictures. Click here to see a video slide-show that my Mom put together.

Isn't she just the cutest baby ever? Mmm, well I think so.

After receiving the phone call that she was born, I felt like Gideon from "Seven Brides For Seven Brothers"

After jumping, and doing hand-stands....... I said "I'm an aunt!"... and fainted.

  6. I'm telling ya, that is seriously who I was acting like when Marian was born. I can totally understand why Gideon reacted in such a manner at Hannah's birth...because I felt and acted the same way! LOL

  7. Congratulations!!!! She is so beautiful. We had a celebration in our house when we found out, though I don't think it was quite as exciting as yours :)
So glad that your family got there safe and that Atlanta's okay. I hope that you will get to see her soon.

  11. Congratulations!! So exciting! :) Oh, she looks really sweet and so beautiful! Praise God for this new little baby! I'm so glad that little Marion and Atlanta are doing okay - she's been in my prayers.

Oh and by the by, please do let my "introduce" myself, as to how I have come to reading your blog. :) I have been reading Atlanta's blog for several years now and really enjoyed "following along with her" as she got married, moved and now is a mommy. I then starting reading your family blog, and then came here. So, I sort of feel like I know y'all! :) I'm a young lady living in the south, hoping to (with God's help) glorify God in my life and everything I do, and seek Him first (Matthew 6:31-33).

Thank you for the post! I was so excited to see an update on your family's new little addition! :)

  12. Hi Martha! That is so neat! I just think it's so special (and awesome) that there are so many people out there, that are interested enough to take time out of their busy lives and follow along as someone writes down their day-to-day adventures of life. Thank you SO much for stopping by and commenting. I LOVE comments. By the by, love your blog! <3 Oh, and did I see you raise Ancona ducks?

  13. Hi Aspen! Oh, so fun to hear back from you! :) And I'm so glad that you could visit my blog and enjoyed (and are now following - thank you!) my blog! I hope that it's an encouragement to you.

Yes, I do have Ancona ducks! Have you ever had any? I got some, oh probably, 4 or 5 years ago, and have had some every since. In the past years I've raised quite a few, though last year the ducks set on their eggs and hatched the ducklings for me - yay! :) I only have 4 now, but I am excited that one of the hens started laying, either again, or for her first time (depending on which duck it is)! :) So, anyway. :) I'm hoping to, God willing, get some bantem chickens soon, which I'm excited about! Have you ever had any?

How is little Marian doing? Is your family still in TN or back home now?

Hope to hear from you again soon. :)

    Blessings,
    ~Martha Joy

  14. I have a trio of Magpies actually (1 drake, two ducks), but they look almost identical to Anconas. They are a very good dual-purpose duck. Honey, several years ago Momma and I ordered 100...yes 100 bantams from a hatchery. We lost quite a few of them to bobcats (because we let them free range), but after awhile we started having our hens go broody and we were overrun with chicks! We had one, ONE tiny bantam hen mind you hatch out 20 chicks..she raised 19 of them. They are crazy good mothers. That was a long time ago though, now I have a pair of Bantam Splash Cochins, and a trio of Seramas. They are darling.

    Looking up your other website...

  16. Oh fun! What other kind of animals/birds do you have right now? By the way, I think both of my ducks are laying now - yay! And praise God for the blessing! Oh wow! That is a LOT of bantams! :) Pardon? 20 chicks from one *bantam?* That's amazing. :) Was it cute to see her with them? :) Hens look so determined while setting on eggs, and so pleased with their chicks once their hatched. ;) Isn't it amazing how God has designed them so that they know how long to set, when to get off for food and water, and then how to care for the chicks?! Our God is an awesome God - a master Creator!!
I saw Atlanta's post on her blog with more pictures of Marion. So sweet! :) And I'm so thankful that everything went okay - praise God - an answer to prayer! That must be fun for them to be able to be in TN and see little sweet Baby! But, I'm sure you've been pretty busy! :)

Thank you for commenting back - I've really enjoyed getting to know you better! ♥ Remember to seek God first, dear Aspen!

  17. I have LF (<Large Fowl) Coronation & Light Sussex, a Giant Black Cochin pullet, Guineas, 2 dozen big ducks, and 18 Call ducks, 20 something geese, a trio of peafowl, and a pair of Zebra finches. That makes up the bird department, for the other animals we have a male tri-colored Australian Shepard, 2 indoor female Sih-Tzus, three male Dutch rabbits, 2 Jersey milkcows, and quite a few "range" cattle, who roam around on our ranch and another place we lease, 11 horses, my little sister has a Dwarf hamster named Pip and my brother has a wide variety of fish, turtles, and lizards...I'm including them in the list because I'm taking care of them all at the moment! LOL

Yes, 20 chicks for a single hen, crazy huh? Yes, it truly is amazing! Yes, they are having a swell time up there seeing the sweet baby. My mornings are pretty busy, and the evenings especially. I usually have a little bit of down during the afternoon hours to blog, and catch up on emails.
