A Birthday To Rmember...Part II

A Birthday To Remember...Part II

Since I've given you an overview in the previous post, I shall now start to fill you in on the details.

During the night a cold front hit, resulting in a gorgeous chilly overcast day, Ah, I loved it! The day before when I was out working in 95 degree weather, I had hoped that on my birthday it would be cooler, God granted my wish! It sure was.
 A glorious sunrise!

I give you permission to be jealous....

Carolina planned out a treasure hunt for me. She had me put on my boots and coat and head outdoors with her on an 'adventure'.

Here are the clues that I found that eventually lead me to the final destination:

I had so much fun! She gave me a small bead necklace (Necklace of Fear), a card written in dwarvish, and The Shirt of Power...that's what I'm Tolkien about! ;) She grabbed an old John Deere shirt from out of the rag bag, and marked out the John Deere logo using a permanent marker, and drew bold letters that said: Shirt of Power.
She told me I had to wear it the entire day, so I did for the majority of the day!

My dear Grandmother also gave me this beautiful silver and turquoise butterfly ring, isn't it lovely? Of course it is!!

Stockton gave me Thorin's key (it's also a pen).

And a 3-D bookmark of Thorin..because every fangirl needs one of these! ;)

From Carolina, The Desolation of Smaug piano music book!!!
Never was there a better excuse to start playing the piano again!

Within it's pages, revealed several full color photos from the movie...I'm thinking about tearing them out and hanging them in my room!

YES!! This song is TOTALLY in there!! And don't you think for one single second that I won't be singing this song like..twenty-four-seven!! Because I will be!!

(I'm a little excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

And, just because I can, here are the full lyrics to "I See Fire", I expect you to learn them, and sing me a solo! Get to practicing!!

I See Fire

Oh, misty eye of the mountain below
Keep careful watch of my brothers’ souls
And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
Keep watching over Durin’s sons

If this is to end in fire
Then we should all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night
Calling out father oh
Stand by and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side

And if we should die tonight
Then we should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time

Calling out father oh
Prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky

Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me

Oh, should my people fall
Then surely I’ll do the same
Confined in mountain halls
We got too close to the flame

Calling out father oh
Hold fast and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky

Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me

And if the night is burning
I will cover my eyes
For if the dark returns
Then my brothers will die
And as the sky is falling down
It crashed into this lonely town
And with that shadow upon the ground
I hear my people screaming out

Now I see fire
Inside the mountains
I see fire
Burning the trees
I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze

I see fire (oh you know I saw a city burning out)
And I see fire (feel the heat upon my skin, yeah)
And I see fire
And I see fire burn auburn on the mountain side

Ahhh!! I cannot believe...I'm still trying to grasp..this song...loveliness...adore..dksjddkd!!!

I'm going to learn Elvish, just so I can sing and know the meaning of this song. I'm serious...I wonder if Rosetta Stone has Elvish among their languages????...

The back, with the list of songs:

My dear friend, Desare, made me this darling chain bracelet:

It's so soft, and warm, and comfortable..I couldn't bare to take it off! <3

And this lovely piece of work that she made! Isn't it just simply lovely?!??!?!?!!! Of course it is!

Yes..now you are jealous again, aren't you? GO ON! Fess up! You are! ;)

Ah! But that's not all! Des knew that I adored earrings, but had no intention of getting my ears pierced..soooo she got me a pair of slip on earrings! They just slide around your ears and you can adjust the size to fit your ear.

*cough* I'm a little in love!!! I wore them all day and even tied a scarf up in my hair! I felt like a gypsy!!

While playing with the birds today, they discovered my earrings and we playing tug-a-war with them...oh dear...!!!!!!

BTW, I'm wearing my Shirt of Awesome Powers....I added the Awesome in there. ;)

(You can see Emmie on top of my head..I don't actually go around with bright green feathers in my hair...most of the time..anyway...)

I thought for sure I would gain several pounds on my birthday, but actually I didn't eat hardly anything. Yes, I spent the whole entire day baking, but no I wasn't very hungry by the end of the day! Kind of ironic, isn't it. ;)

But.....I think I may gain a few pounds trying to finish up all the yummy feastable leftovers! Hmm...

OK, so I'm a little proud of our Hobbit Hole Door Cookies!!

*Stop drooling on your computer screen and keyboard!!* ;)

If you do not currently have melty candles in your home...GET SOME!!! Everybody needs some...<3

While I was gone to Tennessee for 10 days, Carolina practiced "The Quest for Erebor" song, so she could play it for me on my birthday.

*sniffles* I have the BEST sister EVER!!  *happy-crying-sobs*

After the feast, we watched "Edge of Tomorrow", Cimarron had edited it especially for my birthday.

Originally, Carolina and I had planned an all nighter, as she'd never stayed up all night (what's wrong with her??? Geshhh...). We're going to have a Hobbit/LOTR mega-marathon...but I fell asleep 1/4 of the way through The Desolation of Smaug, so that didn't happen. Perhaps another time.

Why, yes, I did take snap-shots of the movie with my phone...don't you ever do that???

It seemed fitting to make these special dwarves a part of my celebration...I would have invited them personally, but I happen to know they are all currently busy fighting and such..dwarves you know, always fighting, they never leave any time for partying.

Anybody know if they changed numbers??? Thorin hasn't been responding to my texts. ; l

This post would be incomplete if I failed to mention Bilbo's famous nose-twitch....and yep...Martin Freeman's facial expressions are perfect!!
 Beorn..

I fully intended to make a batch of Beorn's honey cakes for our feast, but ran out of time. :(
Oh my..I forgot to post pictures of my Bag-End Cake, AGAIN didn't ??!!??!! Oh dear..I guess it'll just have to wait for the next post.

And Yes, I'm being extremely excruciatingly cruel on purpose.

Don't worry, the next (and last) post will be full of recipe tutorials, including gobs of pictures and a tutorial for the Bag-End Cake! ;) Just ye be patient.

Blessings -

~ Aspen

  1. YOU GOT THE MUSIC BOOK!!!!! I'm so jealous! Ugh. I found the chords for I See Fire for my brother so he plays guitar and I sing, though, which is nice. I need to get that book! Beyond The Forest is also one of my favorites to play. :) Have fun playing those songs - you have all my envy!
