DIY: Mathom Keeper

DIY: Mathom Keeper

Spring is in the air and you're in the clean-everything-in-site drive. Have you noticed you have abunch of nick-nacks laying around that have no place to go, but you don't want to throw them away? Yes? Me too! Make this simply and easy mathom keeper to hold all those special items.

First, select four tree limbs that are remotely the same size, you will need two longer branches for the sides, and two smaller ones for the top and bottom. You will also need some sturdy string, scissors, wire cutters, & chicken wire.

Cut a rectangular piece of wire, then fold it over and make a square. You want two layers of wire, overlapping.

Cut yourself a long strand of string and begin sewing on one of the branches. Repeat with all the other branches until you have formed a wooden frame with the wire attached to it.

For added security and sturdiness, tie several good knots on each corner to help hold everything together. Next figure out what piece you want to be the top, and make a loop that you can hang it from.

Once you've figured out where you want to hang it, well hang'er up!

Here comes the fun part! Find all those miscellaneous items you have lying around and attach them to your mathom keeper!

I couldn't believe how many little things we had lying around our room that had no place to go. This cleared up just about all my counter tops, that were previously covered in junk!

Do you have any good tips or ideas for keeping clutter at bay? Do tell!

If you make a mathom keeper, send me pictures! I'd love to see it!
